At SparkSpanish we have a development meeting every 3 months where we work together to improve parts of what we do.  This last month we set ourselves the task of coming up with 10 ethics to work by.  These ethics or values we wanted to define not only what we believed in but how they could guide us in providing the best service possible to our students. We also wanted them to be harmony with our set company mission.  It was a more challenging task then we expected as we wanted to have unanimity and also to have each value well worded in as a precise way as possible.  The 10 “values” or “ethics” we came up with are in the presentation below and to make sure we live up to them we wanted to share them with you our client as it is to best provide our service to you that we made them up in the first place 🙂  Tambien están en español aqui.

El Puerto de Santa Maria forms part of sherry triangle with nearby Jerez and SanLucar. Indeed the English word “Sherry” is an anglicization of the Spanish city Jerez which last year was the European Wine Capital.  The Ruta del Mosto takes place each year in El Puerto de Santa Maria in November to celebrate the first wine of that year that is ready to drink and usually it is made by smaller bodegas (wineries) which is what this festival focuses on.  Not only is it a great way to learn about culture of wine making in the area but usually each mosto is served with some food so it a great way to enjoy tapas. Click on the image below for more details on the event and where you can get Mosto.  If you are interested in studying Spanish and learning about making of sherry why not considering a Spanish Course with us, especially our Spanish and Feria might be of interest for those with a love of wine and Flamenco and just generally having a great time 🙂

Mosto: el primer vino fermentado, que se empieza a beber a partir del mes de noviembre, con un grado alcohólico aproximado de 12%. En muchas ocasiones este mosto se realiza de manera artesanal en cortijos y viñas, siendo un atractivo culinario.

Spark Spanish Courses

A hard but rewarding Academic Year 2014/15 comes to end.  It has been a fun year both with our students in our English Academy and amazing adults on our Spanish Adult Courses.  We’ve had many special and funny moments including: Graham and David being men in black, Iris attacking us all with the sparks and Joe’s many many funny faces, not to mention Inge’s all round wackiness that always makes one laugh.  Together we’ve shared many smiles and much laughter.  Throughout we have been a great team and even the harder moments we have got through together.  I know whatever the future holds that we will share nice memories of the last year in Spark and the great students we had the honor of educating.  A big thank you to each and everyone of you for being unique and special and adding you own Spark to our little project:).  Below is the slideshow from 2014/2015 as well some special photos from previous years. 🙂 🙂

2014-15 SLIDESHOW

School groups tour to Spain video

Spark offers customized school group tours to Spain. The school group programmes include (optional) Spanish classes and cultural activities or city trips. The Spanish classes can be completely catered to needs of the students and there are many cultural activities and city trips available to choose from. This video gives information about the school group programmes and what kind of activities Spark organizes. Also it gives information about the different accomodation options for school groups. In this video I followed and filmed the students from Tudor Hall School from England who were staying with Spanish families. I have gone with them to all the activities they have done and visited two of the Spanish families to see how the students´ experiences were. Both families invited me for dinner and it was really nice to see how the students adapted to the Spanish way of life. This video was probably the most fun one to make, because I was actually involved with the school groups myself joining them during the activities and seeing them enjoy their time here in El Puerto!

This slideshow I have made gives a general impression of the experience of doing a Spanish course in Spark Spanish here in the South of Spain. It is a selection of photos of which I think show the atmosphere in Spark and the life here in El Puerto de Santa Maria best. After four months of living here, I am still really enthusiastic about this particular part of Spain. The weather, beaches, the food and the locals, everything really I like here in El Puerto. Also, the people who work in Spark Spanish are doing their very best to make things as comfortable for the students as possible. So, all I can see is come to El Puerto and discover the Spanish life yourself!

Students´ opinions´ about everything

This video is a resume of all the videos I have made before. It gives a short overview of the opinions of the students who have been staying here at Spark: with comments about the Spanish classes, the Sparkville residence, and El Puerto de Santa Maria. Also, this is the first video wherein I am giving my opinion! All by all, I hope the video will give a clear impression of the whole experience of studying Spanish here at Spark Spanish in El Puerto de Santa Maria and that it will motivate you to come and study Spanish as well!

School Tours in Spain

We are delighted to have ready our new school and junior tour catalogue.  It is jam packed with information about school trips to Spain to El Puerto de Santa Maria, Andalusia and Spain.  Including information on the different activities and excursion options.  El Puerto really is a great place for school trips, being safe, authentic and historical town not to mention the sunshine and beaches.  We hope you enjoy reading it!

School Trip to Spain: Interesting Fact

What do Sansa Stark from Game of Thrones and Hermoine Granger from Harry Potter have to do with SparkSpanish? Hermoine Granger-Harry PotterSansa-Stark-game-of-thronesWell the actresses Sophie Turner and Emma Watson who play/ed those famous characters went to The King’s High School for Girls and Headington School respectively and both those schools are doing a school trip to Spain with us this weekend, arriving to El Puerto de Santa Maria on Saturday.

We look forward to meeting all the girls this weekend and just maybe we’ll have the honor of giving Spanish Classes to a future Hollywood star :).

¡Hasta pronto!
