I really liked the fact that the people in El Puerto are so talkative and friendly.

I will agree that it is one nice place where to go to study spanish! Perfect location for traveling! Amazinh weather — warm! beaches for all ages and tastes! Parties all around year, yes, more parties of course in Summer! People – friendly! It is place where to learn about Spanish culture and style of life… And no tuerists … it means living with spanish only. Cool!

What I liked the most about El Puerto was practising Spanish, the people, SPARK, and travelling around Andalucia!
I like El Puerto. It’s history, its authenticity and liveliness; its approachability and walkability, its sea food, and the proximity to such cities as Cádiz, Seville, and los Pueblos Blancos.
What I liked most about El Puerto is the center. There is so much to see. The markets are great too. And the beaches.

I like the friendly people, trying to help you to improve your Spanish, going out, the nice weather, the sea, SPARK!, sherry and the good food and tapas 🙂
I like the sun, the beach, sherry, tapas and the convenient access by rail to other cities.
Weather, the beaches, the nice people on the street, Spark next to the center… nothing I don’t like.
Nice people, always trying to make efforts to speak a slower Spanish. Smiling people, the beach and the sun. Que demander de plus! 🙂
I don’t know what it is but the city has some kind of magic. I am sad that I have to leave, you can easily ‘fall in love’ with the city, but the Spark staff helps with it as well!

I cannot recommend El Puerto de Santa Maria enough. Great old town with lots of history but with a modern nightlife. On the doorstep of Cadiz and only a short trip away from Sevilla / Jerez and many other ‘must see’ places in Andalucia. The cultural events held at Spark allowed us to see behind the scenes of El Puerto de Santa Maria and practice our Spanish with the locals, far away from the typical tourist routes. My lonely planet guide says El Puerto is ‘hidden gem’ in Spain, having been there, i would have to agree!

The town of El Puerto is unique in a way that can only be felt by visiting it. When you first visit it feels like a run-of-the-mill traditional sleepy Andalusian town, but once you spend some time there you come to find that it has so much more! El Puerto is remarkably welcoming for a little town, especially in its way it treats us foreigners, and there is so much to see and do. You can spend your afternoons under the sun on one of its many beautiful beaches, visit the castle, have a beer and some tapas in one of its million different restaurants or bars, go horse riding, play a game of padel or even go sailing in nearby Puerto Sherry! If anything El Puerto is a surprise and mystery, and merits taking some time to investigate.
I worked in El Puerto de Santa Maria a few Summers ago with TECS Summer Camp and I had one of the best Summers ever there. El Puerto de Santa Maria has it all, amazing culture, great bars, wonderful restaurants and fantastic beaches. There is no end of activities to participate in and endless places to explore. There is also a real captivating sense of the slow Spanish culture and history there.
I’ve visited and worked in El Puerto for the past 4 summers and I can guarantee it’s a marvelously diverse place: Not only does it have a great night life, fantastic restaurants, friendly locals and the genunine buzz of a proper energetic Spanish town, it also has a rich history. There’s one of the oldest and biggest bullrings in Spain, a stunning church (Iglesia Mayor Prioral), plus it was the location from which Chris Columbus began his second expedition and where the first world-map was drawn up! You’re also only a quick train ride away from Jerez, and authentic Cherry! I’ll definitely be returning soon!
Having lived in El Puerto myself I can definitely say it presents as a great place to learn Spanish and experience Spanish culture. You can immerse yourself as much as you want to and whilst there are a few English speakers around to make you feel comfortable, fortunately they most definitely haven’t taken over!
I love el Puerto! I´ve been living there for a year and i have great memories of the city and the people!! lovely food, by the way!
