Merchiston Castle – Students – 15

school trip recommendation

My favourite part was staying with host families, as it was a lot of fun, and I had a chance to speak and practice Spanish.

N. Gubankov

Very hospitable and kind people, very interested in our lives as much as we were in theirs. One point would be that the language gap was wider than I had expected.

F. Singh

My favourite part of the trip was staying at a host family because I enjoyed spending time with Jamie and Bruce.(…) Everything was right and they made me speak a lot which improved my Spanish.

A. Campbell

Very nice people and very tasty food.

P. Milligan

In my hostfamily I had very relaxed and friendly meals with good food and company.

The El Puerto tour was very interesting and I loved La Plaza de Toros.

P. Milligan

Kayaking was real fun and we didn’t walk much, yet saw many interesting places.

N. Gubankov

The Cádiz trip was exactly how I wanted! (…) The Camera Oscura was a great additition to the trip.

F. Singh

Spanish classes have been challenging but always fun, teacher was great!

H. Rogers

The classes were good as the teacher gave us a lot of speaking practice, which was very helpful.

N. Gubankov

Although we were quite lazy (as Mario agreed!) Mario was persistent in his pursuit of aiding our learning.

F. Singh

María was really kind and caring, and very patient with us, always smiling and charming, felt very good in her company.

N. Gubankov

María is a very good teacher and an excellent guide.

B. Ko

I learnt a log of new vocab which will be handy in the future. Also I feel my speaking has improved.

T. Edgar

I liked the trip and I will always have very good memories about people we were around with. Would definitely recommend it to anyone studying Spanish and wants to improve his confidence in speaking the language and gain more knowledge about Spanish culture in general.

N. Gubankov

I feel like I was on holiday, meanwhile I visited museums and exhibitions. This is not a combination I thought I wouldn’t enjoy!!. BUT I DID!

F. Singh

I thought I would feel homesick but not at all and I enjoyed everyone’s company and all food was very nice, especially paella and I haven’t even thought of home since I arrived.
