My Mission Statement at Spark

My idea of my work placement as Spark and my experience of living abroad in Spain is that endless possibilities have now been opened up to me. Not only can I explore this charming and stunning country, but I also have the opportunity to be a part of something special with the Spark team.

At the end of my time here I am going to be able to say that I truly made the most of the experience and I gave it everything I could. That means knowing I achieve the goals I set for myself to the best of my ability and that I had a great impact on everybody around me at Spark, including students and staff. When going home to Ireland, I will tell my friends and family that I now know I can do anything I commit to and prosper in it.

In the past I have had trouble fully grasping the opportunities given to me and taking advantage of my situations so that I benefited from them as much as I could have. This is the time I will change that, starting from day one.

I am committed to my goals. So far into my placement I believe that I have been living up to this standard that I have set for myself. However, this has been the easy part, committing and sticking to these good habits will come with more difficulty. Nevertheless, I know that to succeed I need to keep my end goal in mind and have a purpose for every big or little task I do and attitude I have.

I will have a positive impact on everyone around me. An area that I have always blossomed in is creating connections and good relationships with fellow workers. However, I have never worked with big groups of children varying in ages before. I am going to use my skills of connecting and spreading positivity to help others to do the same as I am now in a position where I can have an amazing influence. I will broadcast good energy to the world.

A common thought that often enters my head is that I cannot succeed at everything, but perhaps I need to change my definition of succeeding. From now on, succeeding for me will mean persevering through tasks I do not immediately flourish in, so that I feel a sense of self accomplishment and improvement. This will help me to grow in both my professional and personal life.

I will always hold myself accountable. I am in charge of my own faith and life, and it is up to me to decide on how far I go. I will not let negative circumstances deter me from achieving great things and can go as far as I desire as long as I use my power to get myself there. I will also own up to mistakes I make and use them to only get better.

I will be self-aware. Not everything in life is easy and goes to plan, and I will know when to admit that I am having difficulty and ask for help. This can also be used to give myself credit where it is due as self-positivity is important for confidence.

When I leave Spark in July, my attitude towards work and overall life will be of great eagerness as I will now know there is so much for me to learn and develop. I will also know that these things are all within my reach and can be acquired by using my own power, which I will have learned here at Spark.
