Cultural activities with Spark, Spanish cooking classes

This week is my last week as an intern for my work & study program at Spark. In the six weeks I have been here, I wrote blogpost about the Spanish cultural events that my fellow Spark staff members and I organized for the students. This week we had our third Spanish cooking class since my arrival at Spark. It is a fantastic cultural activity dedicated to the delicious cuisine of Andalusia and Spain. So, in the meantime I can cook like a Spaniard! Moreover, these cooking activities are good to practice your Spanish vocabulary. The students will choose or write a Spanish recipy and secondly they need to buy the food in the Spanish supermarket. During the cooking and eating we try to speak as much Spanish as possible!

Cultural activities with Spark, sightseeing in El Puerto

Why study Spanish in El Puerto de Santa Maria? El Puerto is ideally located in the Cádiz province and you can visit beautiful cities in its surroundings, such as Cádiz, Sevilla, Jerez, Granada, Ronda, Córdoba, Málaga, Gibraltar or smaller cities such as the famous Pueblos Blancos or beautiful towns at the coastline. But El Puerto itself has a lot to offer too! So, this week we focus on our beloved and beautiful El Puerto de Santa Maria in our cultural events programme! The cultural events enable our students to discover the best of Spain: ‘Descubre España’!

Cultural activities with Spark, a trip to Cádiz

On Saturday we went with a group of Spark students on a daytrip to the wonderful city Cádiz. Spark organizes cultural events for students to experience the Spanish lifestyle here in the Cádiz region, which give Spark students a total package of learning Spanish. Since Cádiz is not only the capital of the province Cádiz but also the oldest city of Europe, it is a must-to-see during your stay in El Puerto de Santa Maria.

Cultural activities with Spark, exploring Spain’s rich food culture

This week I organized two food related cultural activities in El Puerto de Santa Maria as an intern at Spark for my workexperience program. A pretty good job, right?

It is October but it still pretty hot in El Puerto de Santa Maria, so we started with an refreshing welcome drink on tuesday and ate some delicious tapas for lunch at tapasbar Molinete.

Exploring the south of Spain

I am in the south of Spain for 16 days now and I have already seen some amazing places. Andalusia is such a beautiful region and especially the province of Cádiz is the hidden gem of this region. The best part is that it is not flooded with international tourists! As a Spanish language student in El Puerto de Santa Maria, it is perfect. I hear Spanish all the time and almost nobody speaks English, so I have to speak Spanish. It is good for practicing my Spanish language skills, therefore I recommend everybody to learn Spanish in the Cadiz province.

Cultural activies with Spark, enjoying beachlife in El Puerto

This afternoon I took my fellow students to Playa de las Redes, a beautiful beach in El Puerto de Santa Maria, which is a 10 minutes’ drive from the bus stop near Spark. Last week I went there by myself, to see if the place would be suitable for a first Spanish activity. The weather was perfect and as a result the beach was even more beautiful! We went to a typical Spanish beach bar (Chiringuito Salvador) for a drink, while enjoying the view and the refreshing southern Spanish sea breeze.
