Reflexivo Verbos (pre-intermediate level)

En español hay verbos que se conjugan con un pronombre reflexivo (me, te, se, nos, os). Entre estos verbos se encuentran los llamados ‘reflexivos’. Se llaman así porque el sujeto y el objeto coinciden, son la misma persona.
In Spanish there are verbs that are conformed with a reflexive pronoun (me, te, se, nos, os). These verbs are called ‘reflexivos’. They are called this because the subject and object coincide, they are the same person.
Por ejemplo:
For example:
Juan se ducha por la mañana.
Juan takes a shower in the morning.
Los niños siempre se lavan las manos antes de comer.
The children always wash their hands before they eat.
Maria se miró en el espejo.
Maria looked in the mirror.
Sin embargo, hay que tener cuidado porque no todos los verbos con estos pronombres son reflexivos.
However, be careful because not all verbs with these pronouns are reflexive.
Por ejemplo:
For example:
Esta chica se llama Juana.
This girl is called Juana
Mario se quedo en casa porque estaba muy cansado.
Mario stayed home because we was tired.
Otro detalle para recordar sobre estos verbos es que algunos de los reflexivos también pueden funcionar como no reflexivos y, por lo tanto, el sujeto y el objeto de la oración son diferentes:
Another thing you need to remember about these verbs is that some of the reflexive verbs can also work as a reflexive and, therefore, the subject and object of the sentence are different.

| She uses lipstick | She paints her house |
| El se acuesta temprano | El acuesta a sus niños temprano |
| He goes to bed early | He sends his kids to bed early |
El pronombre va antes del verbo y se escribe separado, pero en infinitivo, en gerundio e imperativo va detrás del verbo y se escribe junto:
The pronoun goes before the verb and is written separately, but with the infinitive, a particle and imperative will go after and is written together:
Los fines de semana nos acostamos tarde.
At the weekend we go to bed late.
¡Cállate, por favor!
Shut up please!
Por favor, ¿puedes callarte?
Please, can you shut up?
Miguel está duchándose.
Miguel is showering.
